1. Education, never legal advice
Everything in the CuraPraxis course exists to teach. Nothing in it is legal advice, an opinion on any actual matter, or advice of any other professional kind, and nothing in it creates a professional relationship between you and the course's creator. The modules that discuss cases, statutes, professional rules, ethics and practice management explain them for the purpose of building competence; they are no substitute for your own research, your own reading of the authorities, and your own judgement on the facts in front of you. Decisions about your professional conduct, including whether and how to use AI in any matter, remain your own responsibility under the rules that bind you. If you need advice on a real problem, take it from a person qualified to give it on your facts.
2. A fast-moving field
Artificial intelligence, and the law's response to it, changes quickly. Each part of the course is accurate, to the best of the operator's knowledge, as at the current-as-at date stated in the course material, and the course itself teaches the discipline that outlasts any snapshot: verifying claims yourself before relying on them. Cases decided, directives issued, rules made, and tools launched, changed or withdrawn after that date fall outside the snapshot. The course is updated over time, and paid users receive updates to their tier at no further charge, though no warranty is given that every detail is current on the day you read it.
3. Third party AI tools
The course names and demonstrates third party AI tools, general-purpose assistants and legal-specific products alike. They appear as examples for teaching. Naming a tool is neither an endorsement of it nor an indication of affiliation with its vendor; no vendor has paid for, reviewed or approved any part of the course; and product capabilities, terms and prices change without notice. Each tool is an independent product under its own terms of use and privacy policy. Whether you use a tool, which one you choose, and what information, above all client information, you allow near it are professional decisions the course helps you make and which remain yours. The course deliberately requires no paid tool.
4. About the certificates
The Core and Advanced certificates are certificates of completion issued by CuraPraxis, a private course provider. They are unaccredited, unrecorded on the National Qualifications Framework, and carry no credit towards any degree, diploma, professional designation, or admission or enrolment as a legal practitioner. They carry no continuing professional development credit, and no compulsory CPD scheme is currently in force for South African legal practitioners. Their value lies in what they verifiably prove: that the named person completed the stated modules and passed every assessment. Present them honestly and they will serve you well.
5. Independence
CuraPraxis is an independent product. It is unaffiliated with, and unendorsed by, any university, law firm, set of chambers, regulator, professional body or AI vendor, the Legal Practice Council included. Views expressed in the course are the creator's own.
6. External links
Where the course or site links to external websites, including sources of case law and professional guidance, we control neither their content nor their availability, and a link is never an endorsement.
7. Your use, your outcomes
How you apply what the course teaches, in your practice, your chambers, your firm, your teaching or elsewhere, remains your responsibility, including compliance with the professional rules, court directives, and firm or institutional policies that apply to you, which differ between contexts and take precedence in your own. To the extent the law allows, we accept no liability for outcomes of decisions you take on the strength of course content; the liability clause of the Terms of Use applies. Nothing here limits rights that consumer protection law does not permit to be limited.
